Redeeming River

Redeeming River

A Poem by Phibby Venable

Redeeming River

There is a river here that whispers quiet words
that I cannot hear for the rush of fast water
Some days I stand on the bank and pitch
small rocks into the racy blue
In winter it is almost silent, except for the snow
that drops breathless on the ice in a pause
white and holy in a formal spread,
evenly distributed on water and land

Phibby,

the reason I am at this forum is because a friend told me of your poem.
I read it, loved it...I love the hush of 'whispers quiet words'. It stops
the world for a moment, just as a gentle snow quiets the universe
and turns the mind to thoughts of peace.

A pleasure to read your work!

Phibby,
In eight lines you managed to plant me on that riverbank.
Such beauty you paint with your words.
I am honored to read your words.
Beautiful poem!!

WOW I do so love nature, it is not only soothing just to watch but can teach us about how the simple thing in life bring the greatest happiness, this little poem is full of serene bliss just like nature.

This was very nice to read this morning. You know how I love outdoors and nature poetry. I particularly like the the description "racy blue". That got a smile out of me. Always a pleasure to read your words dear. :o)
