sky of a thousand faces

sky of a thousand faces

A Poem by Phibby Venable

sky of a thousand faces

In the sky of a thousand faces, the night is young.
Grounded, with a blanket beneath me,
I watch the night stars shine a spotlight
on each individual that has moved beyond me.
I am drenched in the dew of old memories
and whispering hellos they cannot hear.
I am stranded on this island of lawn
where the silence is overwhelming
with the saints of destiny
moving in invisible shadows.
I want to lie here till dawn.
I want to feel the purity of fresh cold.
I want to watch the stars disappear with morning,
fading like scabs from the upper chambers,
warm in the coral flesh of morning.

I see you've got your sights realigned. On target, you do this with such ease, you are head of the class... Ed

I liked this too. I have been reading too much abstraction lately. A nice straightforward piece was just what I needed. The visual is crisp, and easy to see, comforting.

Great write

Nostalgic, introspective and beautiful all from a self-made observatory on the grass woven into an illuminating bit of poetry. Delicious!

Magnificent! Absolutely! Must be star night, for there have been several posted on just that subject. Yours adds much beauty, when observing the night sky. I love to watch stars, and all that the universe offers. But this gives me a whole new lookout, when observing! Outstanding!
