We Held Hands

We Held Hands

A Poem by Phibby Venable

We Held Hands

Yes, we held hands.
In the whole light of the room,
it was easy to believe
in the hypnotic lull of love.
Even if the birds fed
on the green shoots,
grass always remained
on our land in patches.
 On warm nights,
the passionate amoebas
beneath our skin,
drowsed, untreated.
In the whole light of the room,
fingers entwined & speaking
in low tones,
I saw a prism of sun,
striking the far wall with time.

Such a vivid write.
Interesting concepts involved with describing the feeling, but it works.
Well written, original & fresh.
