I Ride Your Laugh

I Ride Your Laugh

A Poem by Phibby Venable

I Ride Your Laugh

I ride your laugh
into the glimmer
of soft focus
in black & white
not seduced
but very high
on the conversations
your hands make
to the movement
of your mouth
because as a child
I could not resist
the lure of a story
though it dealt me
a multitude of chores
but as a woman
I am able
to smile at endings
and laugh
while flipping
through the database

Another psychological portrait, written with imagination and spiced with sharp observation of female personality. I enjoyed this very much, the short lines worked perfectly.

I wish I had all those old men's stories from my childhood back again . . .
