I Am Awake Now And Interested
I am awake now and interested
in the noise outside
Someone has tricked winter
into a spring day
There is an orange ablaze!
Pale yellow flowers hint
their impending arrival
They open suitcases of soil
Rough weather has been belted
into a madhouse vest
The piston of desire has struck
the yard dog
She leaps at false premises
and dolls herself up with a roll
A belief beyond stone
covers the mountain
I am awake now and listening
to the coarse earth clear her head
The sky is a dome of blue
Clouds of chess pieces
ponder their next move
I watch the air nudge
the tiny nubs of tree thumbs
This day is a dished up dove
of generous warmth,
drop kicking the cold ,
all the way back,
into January!
