March Awakened Yellow-Eyed

March Awakened Yellow-Eyed

A Poem by Phibby Venable

March Awakened Yellow-Eyed

I placed the lotus in a float
I prayed four virtues
on my soul
I saw a drunkard's splash occur
short as an ethereal of dew
from some stray drops
around the bowl
I searched my ephemeral soul
to find the way
I might disrobe
into some joyous disregard
that lay between myself
& God.

It's what we all look for. Love the way you gave this a lilting softness. Great work.

It's what Stephen Crane would have written if he could really write poetry. Spare, and economical, but no less magical for being so.
