Wands That Fly

Wands That Fly

A Poem by Phibby Venable
"

considering magic..

"

Wands That Fly

First jubilant before the crowd
a wide expanse
of  brown cattails
The pond,
a stage & singing ground.
A willow branch,
a broken stick,
a milkweed plant,
a firmament
All that is needed for the time
it takes to concert
with the sky
Forsythias,
an Indian pipe,
a long necked stick
that holds a star.
All of these are wands that fly.
