Isabella

Isabella

A Poem by Phibby Venable

Isabella

Isabella,
the corn has ripened.
See here, she is green & rough
to the touch
She has thrown out a camouflage
of dull brown strands
When we open her,
there is the plump gold
of edible flesh
there is the silken softness
of her true hair
Isabella, these are the secrets
that shy women share.

reminds me of the phrase, "still waters run deep"
nicely written and I like the use of corn as an analogy.....very nicely written

Most expressive & impressive.
Love the closing lines.

True! and it's about time someone noticed. I love the use of the corn to get your point across. I would have never thought of it, but I'm not sure I'll look at corn the same again!!!!
