There is a Silence

There is a Silence

A Poem by Phibby Venable

There is a Silence

I have a summit meeting of the soul
there is the silence of the door ajar
there is a stone that I turn all around
a souvenir of feeling too alone
what can I think of, slim thoughts, bony souls
I can't describe exactly what I feel
some rapture, a new bursting of the sun
a beach of fragile shells & pink inside
a bow I saw made from a single piece
of hickory & the arrows were perfect fits
the magic adoration of a dream
a group of evening children as they laugh
imagination shadowed with desire
nothing distracts me from this bleak despair
It is the fairy girl that dreams of lack
the silver touch of cold & shivering chill
It is the lost saint in a broken light
and you..your face so wan & flickering dark
here where it should be brightest in my heart.

This is beautiful, drew me in right from the start. So many poetic lines here!

This is remarkable... I'm a new fan.

Oh, the words are delicate-strong. True and straight as the arrow that comes from the hickory bow. I would know this poem as yours anywhere.
