A Poem by Phibby Venable

Coverings

This is the canopy I made for our bed
Circular, it falls in froth and pastels
The sides are open to escape
When the wind lifts the drapes
our entire contraption turns
in a merry go round of spins
till I am weary
with your efforts
of indifferent infidelity
that stops the music
I flow in.

This is a very pretty poem, even in its sadness. Oh how I've known the merry go round and the lifting of the drapes.

I made my escape. This is stunning.

A lovely lyrical melodic piece with steel under the silk.

The idea made me a little queasy, too. It's supposed to be all lilac scent and fairy tale dreams that frothy concotion that surrounds your bed. No place for indifferent infidelity. Striking images.
