It Is Too DarkA Poem by Phibby VenableIt is too dark to see the night Shadows sharpen and expand, a cover up against the moon It is too dark to see myself my eyes pretend to welcome black My thoughts grow restless, then step out onto the ebony and glide I recreate a moon outside I add the stars & let them fall in different sections of the world I feel a softness on my back and find a flower the sun once touched Then, in my mind I spread a quilt and read the messages I wrote so long ago when I first saw the stars abandon height and fall to rest a moment in the dusk and contemplate the way back up © 2013 Phibby Venable |
