Tentative Blooms

Tentative Blooms

A Poem by Phibby Venable

I will put away Winter in your eyes
and create a Japanese garden
idealized in aesthetic brightness
There will be a philosophy of compromise
concealed in our backpacks at all times
and when the day is too stubborn
we will step out into a crowded theatre
No one will know our names or keep track
of our hilarity
and the film will speak something
of everything we intended to say
If you wish, We may remain silent,
a polite pause for the hardest part
of things to evaporate,
for a crisp Spring night to rise
in the stars outside
It is so difficult to decide- a spectator,
or a jovial friend - blocking the crudity
of a too real world

Those precious moments with a loved one is something no one can ever take from you... and when those moments make you feel like you are the only ones on earth the word priceless comes to mind.

I stay away from crowds...I stay away from people...I prefer the company of one friend or a pair...at the most three... and with that, I prefer at least one of them be a child. Children always make me smile. Silence can be a friend like a good book and a cup of tea. The winter cold has settled in my bones Phibby, there's a dull ache that won't leave. The rain has been relentless and my shattered leg with its pins and screws throbs through my knee. Old wounds are like scars on the heart. We can cover them up but they will always be part of our history. The world certainly is an unfriendly place. I'm glad I have friends like you and your pen for company. Bless.
