Errant Skies

Errant Skies

A Poem by Phibby Venable

A covert sun swims upward from the sea
She hears the summoning of morning song
The roses in her hair rise up and grow
into a hair band she flings to the world

I am here to watch the world complete
a glowing coral sea bath on the beach
and you, my dancing flame of discontent,
throw shells at gulls that only seek to vent
the joy of another day that brings
escape from darkness and a chance to wing
pure white exuberance across the sky

How differently it seems our worlds have leapt
till even beauty pauses in regret
as we, who once ran laughing in the sea
now search for dreams the other cannot see

This is beautiful. It warms the heart and pulls the corners of the mouth into a smile. There is a subtle luxury in your words that I love to soak in; like a hot tub after a grueling day...relaxing and luxurious.

This is so musical, so effortlessly mixes joy and wistfulness--a mix that seems damn near impossible until you consider the source.

some sins are larger than others
Taking advantage of mother nature, cherishing it will make it last forever... another wondrous poem from you.

A hug and thank you!
One who can, one who can't see. And probably thinks the problem is with the one who van see. Is this not ogten the way. You Phibby show a remarkable grasp. And what is even more amazing know how to capture it beatifully.

I like the description. Leading the reader in a search and discovery mission in the words. I like the ending. Need new dreams to replace the one's we lost. Thank you for sharing the excellent poem.
