In Case This Day Will Not Gentle

I will walk the evening in streetlights -
the dew visible in lines of magic
the dogs sadder than a loon
in a howl of hopefulness
Back home will be a pink shell on my dresser
that I can hold in pale loveliness
closing my ear to everything but the ocean

I will play it safe with mud pies patted out
with the energy of a child
blandly unaware of bitterness
There are things to do
that I was unaware of in the light
of your angry love

In case this day will not gentle
into the year round colored lights I keep
or nestle your tongue from reprimands
harsh with forced affection
I will hide my face in the soft lamb
I ordered for white noise
and hear nothing but the softness
of solitude

This is a lovely, sad poem that seemingly has no depth to the sadness felt by this childlike person. It feels like everything is in a downward spiral. "...soft lamb ... for white noise..." very strong feelings here.
Well written.

My solitude is hard. Hard as stone actually. Marble I think..something very cold and lifeless. I've eaten enough mud pies to last an adulthood. But I always enjoy your poetry! Bless the sweet poet!
