This Mountain Stream Is A Promise Ring

This Mountain Stream Is A Promise Ring

A Poem by Phibby Venable

This Mountain Stream Is A Promise Ring

I waver on the edge of fidelity
in a husk of cattails iced
leaning apart
Their spirit and spine fullness,
strain against the dark

This mountain stream engages
in a cool cerebral view
Leaf freckled ,soft mosses
meadowed crevices of ground

A promise rides the currents
that continues to rush through
Neither of us speaking
My fingers splashing blue

The piece is, in terms of pacing, straight ahead as the river of life, but there is a certain playfulness in the scenery. That's a tough combination to pull off, but this is smooth as glass and utterly superb.

Thank you!
To give someone the world is the best way to show your commitment and the best way to do that is to enjoy its beauty with the one you love.
