Single mom from Cali

Single mom from Cali

A Poem by Ashes
"

She really couldn't have known any better

"

She came from California
Two kids
5 and 3
hanging on each side

A better life's what she needed
another f**k up
and night on the street's what she got
leaving the kids with ma
and ignoring the meth lab of her pa
as she walked the streets

Shoulda known better
they said
without knowing her choices

Gotta feed her babies
and the word forever
was good as a promise
that can't be taken back anymore

This is the life
she leads now
single mother
working the street
with no way of knowing better

Author's Note

Ashes
I know the title's not very original, but I blame not sleeping for almost 48 hours. ^_^;

Anyway this is the story of a girl (why do I feel like listening to nine days now?) whom I used to know when I was a kid.
