Questions

A Poem by Ashes
"

All these questions and no answers

"

What if I wanted to break,

in to a million beautiful pieces

scattered across a desecrated land

not yet born, but still destroyed?

What would you say if

I wrote a suicide letter

with the I’s dotted with hearts

and written in neon colored gel pens half broken from use

and aimed right at you?

And hat would you do if

I said I hate you

and love you

but the bonfire’s dying along with the revolution

and a defibrillator isn’t on site

all in one breath?

Now what would I do if

I wrote all this out

and showed it to you

with my heart bleeding on your carpet?

Hopefully you didn’t just clean it

So what if

you couldn’t save me

from myself,

from yourself,

from them

and from time itself

while having no Kleenex to dry your eyes with?

What if

we had to bare our souls

on a platter like perfectly arranged fruit at a tacky buffet

showing our bruises and oozing pulp

as well as our vibrant colors?

What would you do if

you had to say you hate me as much as you hate her

but there’s really no compromise

since you hate hate so much, but need it

like plants need the sun that sets them ablaze?

And what if

all that was left
