A puppy dog high

A puppy dog high

A Poem by Ashes
"

We were just a couple of kids strung out on one too many things.

"

You’re shaking, high as a kite

and not so hungry, but starving just the same

while the water slides down your throat

heavy and thick,

or at least you think it does.

Your head’s pounding

and the worlds to dizzy to really tell though.

Suck in your stomach

you’re still to fat even with heroine chic hipbones,

so pop two more pills on an empty stomach

and lay in bed shaking

under thick blankets due to your homemade speed fix

and too little concern about yourself.

~~~II~~~
He paints cats and puppies on your arms
with his purple and orange eyeliner
and you let stuttered, parched words flow over your tongue
he smiles (you expect him to call you a liar) and says you’re like his little sister;
Just too cute.
His blue denim jeans
and your puppy painted orange skin
contrast in the dark room…
