Cold

Cold

A Poem by Ashes
"

We probably could have lasted longer.

"

Clap, clap
it’s just another day
with a new trail of blood
but let me not be selfish now
or maybe I still will be

our lips were chapped
your foot never popped
and our hands never met
I was just too cold

you always laughed
trying to pick my locks
I’m sorry
for not making you smile
even though I had so much to say
but I washed it away
with my own laughter

Let me be cold here
there was too much baggage
the ship sank before it hit port
and you and I,
mostly I
were just a little,
one tiny inch,
too short

I never meant
for that door to close
or for your absence
that night I was high
on my own broken skin.
My mind was freezing
and I thought more of the sky
than saying…
sorry for the lies
of our love

Author's Note

Ashes
Part listening to too much Cold - Crossfade and Bad Boy - Cascada and part apology to my first girlfriend whom I was a selfish ass too. This is an old poem by the way, thus it's a little...unpolished.
