Unrequited

ABC Poem

"
"Alliana", I shouted as I watched you walk along the edge
But you just walked away
Couldn't you hear me trying to stop you?
Did you even care?!
Every time I close my eyes I see your sad eyes before you hit the bottom
F**k, how could you have been so stupid?!
God, why couldn't I have seen the signs...
How do I live with the guilt of knowing I could have... should have...
I would have followed you to the ends of the Earth...
Just to be your friend... I was content
Knowing that only a handful of people would ever see your true smile
Lucky me...
Maybe if I would have told you how I felt, you wouldn't have felt alone...
Now it is too late
Only I will ever know that my heart is as broken as your body was
Please lie to me and tell me this is just a nightmare
Quiet the voices in my head!
Reality isn't that kind...
Slowly the music starts and people start lining up to look at you,
The piece of me that I will zoom through life without.
Uncoil this knot in my heart, how can I just say goodbye and walk away
Veto this guilt from my mind, please just give me a chance to make it right
What should I do?
X-ray my self worth and try to move on?
You would have laughed at such a childish fantasy...
"Zac," my mother grabs my hand "the feelings will lessen with time." I hope she is right.
