Chapter 12-Rue’s True Ambitions….

 “You’re going to die Rue…” Nerringne said bluntly as though she already knew from the start. Her words hit me like a bullet through my heart. How could she say something like that without any hint of sadness? Rue’s e eyes flickered black as coal before she retalliated with an almost simple answer. Her face was strained, a crease appearing on her smooth porcelain forhead. Shadows crept from beneath her reaching then reatreating almost as if they were dancing. Dark rain filled with black blood of the soul began to fall upon us drowing our hearts and will to find more of the truth.

“Why is that any of your business? Rue’s voice turned into a sad hymn, but an almost chuckle as if she herself didn’t care about what happened to her at that very moment. “What I do is my decision and mine alone….that doesn’t involve YOU.” Her last word hit harshly and pierced through my mind She….she doesn’t want any help. It’s not like she denied what Nerringne said. Does that mean she’s planing to take her own life but for what purpose? Suddenly she looked towards me with cold and almost demanding eyes. What? My body is not moving on its own….

 

“Rue! Stop this at once! You don’t know what your getting into!” Nerringne’s screams could be heard over the vicious blowing winds and suddenly everything has come to a grinding halt, just to hear the one sentence that had to be said. “Is what you’re doing really worth it?!” Rue’s eyes turned cold and black, anger seeping out of her voice like a demon’s.

 

“It is worth it! You don’t understand anything do you?!” What is going to happen now? I can’t move and my body is responding to me. Rue’s body tensed as the words continued to spew out her mouth.  “I don’t care what happens to me!”

 

“As long as your mother is alive right?” Rue’s eyes widened as question reached her ears. Is that what she’s after. To regain her mom’s life from the hell god? Nerringne’s voice softened. “Rue what happened to your mother?”

 

“…..The queen Panthera, grew jealous of my mother because of her likeability and the fact that I had so much power…..”As she said the words, my heart started to fill with sadness. “I didn’t know what I was doing, but…I went to visit the king, my father, without Panthera knowing, but one day I accidentally let her daughter, Pandora see me…….” The tears started to fall. I wanted to hold her to, to tell her it would be okay……. “ She talked to me and I thought everything would be okay, but she started to attack me and I didn’t know what to do and then without thinking…..my powers unleashed and it burned and cut her hair….she was enraged and I was scare, so ran..”

 

“Rue what else happened that day?...”

 

“She told Panthera and came after me. My mom took me and ran, giving me this scythe to protect myself if something should happen but she went to fight Panthera alone, but she never came back…….” This sounds really sad. No wonder Rue went at this alone. “A couple days later I found out that she was killed and was placed in the pit of the damned and that they had to whole kingdom on the search for me.  I couldn’t forgive them! I learned about how to revive a person through the hell god….but a life must be exchanged for a life. But that’s fine with me……..”

 

“Rue that’s not the way to go about it! Even if you manage to revive your mother she’ll just be an empty shell!”

 

“Shut Up!!! Don’t you think I know that already?!” Rue was angry. Her eyes grew bright crimson like she was out for the kill.  Then as if she just thought of a joke that was funny only to her, she laughed manically. “Do you intend to stop me?! I’ll make sure that you won’t!” She snapped her fingers and my body pulsed. Ugh! What’s going on? I’m moving on my own! What the hell is happening?! “Duran I’m sorry to do this, but you take care of her.”

 

“Yes Rue…..” What the heck am I saying? I’m like a mindless zombie.

 

“Rue don’t do this! And you Duran snapped out of it!” Rue started to disappear into the ground beneath her. Where is she going? “Rue! Don’t go to Ursenfold!” Ursenfold? Is that where she’s going?! Nerringne started run after her, but I jumped in front of her not under my own will. Darn.

 

“Good Duran….Goodbye…” She disappeared only leaving behind black feathers. I dropped to the floor now able to gain control of my body.

 

“No…..Rue…What have I done?” I banged my fist on the ground repeatedly. The wind picked up speed once again….

 

“Duran…” I looked up to see a serious faced Nerringne staring at me. “Duran let’s go.”

 

“Go where?”

 

“To Ursenfold…..”
