Chapter 7- The Palace

Siren, Toya, and Shuran sat around the mysterious unconscious girl laying on Toya’s blanket. Toya started to explain the situation.

"The girl was beaten pretty badly…" he started then continued, "She passed out here. That boy that was here was named Feng and he was the son of Master Teikari’s eldest brother Jiang." Siren raised an eyebrow and then narrowed her eyes. Shuran looked at the two of them confused. Toya continued. "His two bodyguards were named Chen-chi and Mei-li. Feng attacked this girl, just because she refused to be his bride. Although, I don’t blame her for that." Siren nodded her head and went into deep thought. Shuran continued to look at them confused until she spoke.

"Umm…" she started. Siren and Toya looked at her in curiosity. Shuran continued, "What does Master Teikari’s brother have to do with anything?" Siren raised an eyebrow in shock, but remembered that she and Toya have not told her anything about it. Siren started.

"Shuran…" Siren started then continued, "Those people that keep attacking us are sent from Master Teikari’s brothers….They are in a battle to take place of Master Teikari…" Shuran eyes widened as the information started to sink in. Suddenly a grown could be heard coming from underneath them. All three of them looked to find the girl looking back at them.

"Ni Hao….." she said quietly and got up. Siren, Toya, and Shuran moved out of the way. She looked around then smiled. "Ahh….You got rid of them, didn’t you?" She turned to Toya, who nodded. She smiled even harder and hugged him. Toya blushed. Siren sighed and looked at Shuran who seemed slightly annoyed. Siren raised an eyebrow. What’s up with her?, she thought. Toya gently pushed the girl off. The girl looked at him confused then blushed. "Ai! I’m so sorry! I was just so excited to get rid of that troublesome group!" She started to laugh nervously. Toya chuckled as well. Siren spoke.

"Do you mind telling us your name and your reason for being out here?" she said. The girl looked at her confused then nodded her head and smiled.

"Oh that’s right! I haven’t told you my name!" she said excitedly and looked Toya happily. Shuran was becoming more annoyed. Siren glanced at Shuran from the side. Oh I see…,she thought. Then looked back at the girl. She smiled at Toya and grabbed his hand. Toya blushed. "My name is Yue." She turned back to Siren. "I came here to escort Lady Siren and her friends to Master Teikari’s palace, but….I didn’t know what they looked like…" Siren sighed then smiled. Toya slowly moved away from Yue. Shuran softened a little.

"I am the Siren you are looking for." Siren said to her, "These are my friends Shuran and Toya." Siren pointed to each of them as she mention their names. Yue eyes lighted up.

"Oh Thank God! I thought I would never find you guys!" she said and threw her arms around Toya once again. Shuran jumped a little. Toya tried to struggle out of her grasp. Yue looked up at Toya. "So your name is Toya huh? Okay, let’s be heading of to the palace! Master Teikari is waiting!" Toya squirmed away and started to run away from her. Yue followed after him happily. Shuran turned red and started to run after them. Siren sighed, gathered their things and headed after them.

Oh lord…,

she thought.

The group has made it the palace and stood before the enormous structure in the meadow. Toya stopped and panted from his attempt to get away from the clinging Yue, who still clung to him. Shuran glared at the girl. Siren ignored them and stared at the enormous structure. It had golden dragon statues in the front and was red all over. Siren narrowed her eyes. Master Tetsuya…I’ll finally get to see him, she thought and turned to look at the three people who were goofing around behind her.

"Stop messing around and let’s go in." she said sternly. The three turned to look at her and followed her into the palace with Yue leading. Yue took them around the corner and into the main hall. Siren looked around as they walked. It’s bigger than the last one…,she thought. Shuran looked around as well, but didn’t keep her eye off of Yue. I don’t like her, Shuran thought. Toya felt the tension in the air. I don’t like this atmosphere, he thought. Yue knocked on the door and a servant answered.

"Oh it’s you Yue! Have you brought them?" said the female servant. Yue bowed, nodded and smiled.

"Yes they are here. May we enter?" Yue said calmly. There was silence at the door and then it opened. A voice spoke.

"Enter you four." a rhythmic, but powerful voice said. Shuran and Toya jumped, but Siren and Yue knew who it was. Yue entered first and the three followed soon after. Siren looked around as they entered and saw the Master sitting on his throne alongside with the Mistress that she hadn’t seen for a long time. Even though time had past, she was still beautiful. Next to her was the now older twins Maaike and Maartje. They’ve gotten taller and older.., Siren thought and sat down next to her friends. She looked around some more. Wait where’s Testuya?…,she thought, but was interrupted by Master Teikari. "Welcome to you Siren and your friends. I hope your travel wasn’t a rough one." Shuran and Toya were afraid to speak. They didn’t know what to say at this moment. Siren spoke.

"No it wasn’t Master. It was a very calming trip although we did run into a few obstacles, but we took care of it." she said with confidence.

"Come Siren and let me see you." Master Teikari said to her. Siren nodded, looked at her friends and headed up to the throne where Master Teikari and the family stayed. Shuran looked after Siren with concern. I hope she’ll be alright, she thought. Toya narrowed his eyes. She knows this place better than we do, so it’s best to let her talk…,he thought. Siren walked up the stairs to reach the Master. She stood before them and bowed.

"I am here Master…" she said quietly. Master Teikari stood up from his throne and walked over to Siren. Siren stared at him. His eyes were still the same. Gentle yet stern. His black hair seemed to have gotten longer though. It showed through his hat. Master Teikari put a hand on her shoulder then took her in an embrace.

"Siren…you look just like your mother…you are beautiful. It’s good to see you again." he said as he held her. Tears started forming in Siren’s eyes. She was home and that was where she wanted to be. Maartje stared at Siren coldly. Maaike looked at her sister with curiosity. Mistress A’Meiya started to get annoyed.

"That’s enough you two! Let’s move on with our lives!" she yelled. Master Teikari looked at his wife from the side then let go of Siren and sat down. He glared at his wife then looked away. A’Meiya sneered then continued. "You servant boy!" She pointed to a servant in the back corner of the room. "Go fetch those two from the garden!" The servant nodded and went out of the room. Those two?…,Siren thought. The servant returned with a tall looking boy with semi-short black hair and a girl with long black hair dressed in red. Siren narrowed her eyes. Master Teikari welcomed them in.

"Ahh! My son and Fang-Hua. Come in." he said as he gestured towards himself. The two came up the stares and stood next to Siren. The boy looked at Siren oddly and then narrowed his eyes. Siren looked up at him with her big blue eyes. He was taken aback. Fang-Hua spoke.

"What is the meaning of this?! We were having a peaceful stroll in the garden until you summoned us!" she yelled. Siren and her friends were taken aback. How can she talk to him like that?., they thought together. Mistress A’Meiya smiled then spoke.

"No dear , I summoned you." she said with a big grin on her face. Fang-Hua sighed then spoke with a smile on her face. Testuya frowned.

"Oh if it’s you then, I don’t mind ." she said and grabbed on to Testuya. "Right my Tetsuya?" Tetsuya did a quick frown then looked away. Siren narrowed her eyes. Her Tetsuya?.., she thought. Master Teikari sighed and spoke.

"Anyway, Siren this boy is your master from six years ago. You remember master Tetsuya. Well this thing standing next to him is his fiancée, Princess Fang-Hua. " he said. Tetsuya’s and Siren’s eyes widened by the sound of the others name. Tetsuya looked at Siren in amazement. Siren saddened and looked down. His fiancée….I see.., she thought. Master Teikari spoke once more. "She has come to fulfill her duty to be your protector along with her friends. Maybe you can be friends again." Tetsuya continued to look at Siren, who had her head down, and spoke.

"Father. I do not need such a scrawny protector." he said coldly then turned to look at his father Master Teikari who stared in him in amazement, "Further more, I do not need to be friends with a servant. No royal should. I made that mistake when I was younger, but not again." His harsh words took Siren by surprised and hurt her deeply. Mistress A’Meiya and Fang-Hua smiled at his reply. Shuran and Toya looked at him surprised, more angry for Toya. Master Teikari narrowed his eyes as he spoke.

"I‘m sorry to hear you say that…." he said quietly. Mistress A’Meiya looked at him cautiously. "However, they shall stay." He motioned to one of the servants. "Show them around the palace." The servant nodded and guided the three of them out of the main hall. Siren turned back to her master Tetsuya, before leaving. Time is a formidable opponent….it really is, she thought. Shuran looked at Siren with concern, then patted her back.

"It will be alright Siren…." she said reassuringly. Siren looked up and smiled half-heartedly as the three left the room.

Siren walked through the garden outside the palace. A little shortly after they left the main hall, Siren had slipped away and found herself in in the garden. She roamed around the garden looking at all the flowers that bloomed. Siren stopped in front of the lotus blossoms and bent down to look at them. She then remembered the hair clip and touched it. Her eyes saddened.

"Master Tetsuya…" she whispered. Suddenly footsteps could be heard coming from around the corner. Siren jumped up and stood in her fighting stance, but out came her master, Tetsuya. He stared at her as she released her pose. Siren fixed her dress and bowed, "I’m sorry master Tetsuya. You can never be to careful." Master Tetsuya started to walk over to her. She looked up.

"I thought I told you to just call me Tetsuya. We’re friends after all." he said with a smile on his face. Siren eyes widened ads he walked over to her and embraced her. Siren was shocked.

"Master Tetsuya? What are you doing?…" she asked quietly. Tetsuya answered gently.

"I’ve missed you Siren…." he said quietly.
