Chapter 8- The Change

The sun shown through the curtains of my windows causing me to wake up. I really didn’t want to wake up, at least not right now anyway. I sat up in my bed and stretched my arms out wide. Huh? This is strange….My arm seems very muscular today. Ehh…It’s probably nothing.. I jumped out of bed and grabbed my towel and extra clothes. Time to take a shower. Before going into the bathroom, I looked in the full length mirror next to the door to my room. Huh…Did I get taller? I looked again. No, I don’t think I did….Ehh…..Whatever. I hoped into the shower and started to wash off. Ahh! The water feels so good….It seems like yesterdays events seemed like a strange dream. I looked over to the note in my pants pocket. Although….that note says otherwise. You should also want to know about your friends as well. Even though I said I would solve this puzzle, a big question still remains in my head. Do I really want to know what it is? And if I did find out, would I be able to withstand it? I don’t know….All this is very foreign to me. My life just revolved around my school, my friend, and my sisters. So why all this now? Ugh! I started rubbing my head like crazy in the shower. This is making my head hurt. I placed my hand against the wall of the shower. I leave it alone for now. I looked back at the letter. Still….I’m helping Rue now and I want to know more about her. So, I’ll have to go see her today. Hah….better get out of the shower. I stepped out of the shower and wrapped the towel around me. Sigh…this is a mess. I looked into the mirror in the bathroom. Oh….My hair is spiky. Wait! I looked at the mirror again and my eyes widened. My hair is really spiky! I ran some water through my hands and slicked my hair back to it’s original state. It was probably some bed hair. My hair returned to it’s spiky position. What is going on. A knock at the door. Not now! I’m trying to figure something out! A knock again. Oh never mind.

　

"Who is it?" I asked. A soft voice came from the other side. I sighed a breath of relief. It must be Daria because Denae would never be so quiet. I smiled and started to laugh a little. Maybe she’ll bring me some peace and comfort. "If it’s Daria, you can come in." The door opened slowly and in walks a smiling Daria, but that smile turned into horror, then saddened. I’ve never seen three emotions at once, but I wonder…What was that all about?

"Good morning, Duran…" she said half -heartedly. She stared at my hair for a long time. I blushed a little. I know this is strange for her. It is for me too. I tried to smile as best as I could to reassure her.

"Oh don’t worry…I have a little bed head today that’s all." I said half-heartedly. She tried to smile, but I could tell she couldn’t do it whole-heartedly. I’m starting to get really sad , just watching her. Oh yeah that’s right. "Your initiation ceremony is coming up right?" Her eyes widened. It was as if she was surprised. She probably forgot about it.

"Yeah…..it’s in three days from now…why?" she said hesitantly. In three days huh? Well I can’t miss it for the world. I really respect my sister. She is very strong after all. I smiled.

"Just wanna make sure I don’t miss it." I replied and she smiled. That seemed to make her happy. She eyed me some more. I followed her gaze. Wow, I’m really muscular, but not like steroids muscular, like skinny, but muscular. A hint of a smile came on my face, but I could see that Daria wasn’t happy. I scratched my head and chuckled. "Eh heh heh…Seemed like all the sword practice is paying of after all." She glared at me curiously. I flinched. I wonder if she thinks I’m lying to her about something? But what do I have to lie to her about? Unless…all these changes were caused by tat bite Rue gave me. That could be it! Although I can’t let Daria know that. She sighed and started to leave the room. I wonder what happened?

"Remember to be yourself Duran." Daria said as she was leaving, "Never lose yourself and you’ll be alright…" She disappeared from the room. I stood there shocked. What does she mean by that? Oh never mind. Too many confusing things at once. I finished getting dress and went into the living room. To my surprise, Denae stood there and leaned against the wall near the stairs. I backed away from her. Don’t want her to kill me. She chuckled.

"My powers are still sealed." she said darkly and started to walk over to me, "Not that I would hurt a potential demon anyway." A potential demon? Does she mean me? I glared at her.

"What are you talking about Denae?" I growled with my fists clenched. A snarl came from inside my throat. What? Why I am I snarling? How can I even snarl? I sound like an animal, a very vicious animal. What is happening to me? Denae glared at me and chuckled.

"See what I mean? You’re slowly turning into a Demonas Bestii, or demon beast." she said and smirked, "Funny…demonas bestii can only be created by ones with royal blood. They are one of the most respected demons in Ursen fold. Makes me wonder….how did an insignificant being like you….find one of royal descent?" Royal descent? Rue can’t be of royal blood can she? Demonas Bestii? I’m turning into a demon beast?!

"I don’t believe you!" I growled at her and roared. Wait! Now I’m roaring? What the heck is going on?! Denae jumped back a little bit then chuckled once again.

"Fine don’t believe me, but that won’t change what is happening to you" she laughed darkly and started to walk away from me and into the next room. I snorted. I really don’t like her, but what she’s saying makes some sense. I put a hand on my chin. I better ask Rue about this….A knock at the front door. I wonder who that is? I went to get it and opened it to find Ayame, eyes wide with her hands clamped over her mouth and tears in her eyes. What’s the matter with her? She starteed to mumble something as I tried to console her.

"Ayame what’s wrong?!" I asked her frantically. I don’t know what’s the matter with her. I’d wish she tell me. She just took one look at me and started crying. Ayame continued to cry and started to whine, loudly.

"It has begun……." she whined.

Oh my gosh, not much to say. I don't see any gramical errors, but you succeed in pulling and asking, no begging for more.

I knew he was gonna be turned into a demon. Stop laughing Denae! Poor Daria, she must be feel disappointed. Oh well, I really love this chapter. It keeps me smiling and actually makes me laugh. Keep going. I really want more!
