Chapter 6- The Last Day

 

Rune-rune laid down next to the sleeping Toya, whining for him to get up. A rustle comes from the bushes and Rune-rune starts to get frightened.

 

“Waahh oooh!” Rune-rune whined as he pawed at Toya. Toya shooed him away. Rune-rune tried again. “Waahh ooh!”

 

“What is it ,you stupid animal?!” Toya said grouchily at him. He sat up on his blanket and scratched his head. He looked around expecting to see Siren and Shuran due to his earlier request from Rune-Rune, but they were nowhere to be found. He glared at Rune-rune who looked at him nervously. “What is the matter with you?! I told you to wake me up when they got back! Do you see them here?!” He hmphed and started to lay back down. Rune-rune started to paw at him again.

 

“Waahh ooh! Waahh ooh!” Rune-rune whined again, urgent this time. Toya was becoming annoyed and sat up once more.

 

“I said leave me alone! Don’t you---” he was interrupted by the rustling of the bushes. He stood up and readied himself for battle. Rune-rune ran behind him and shivered behind his leg. Toya looked down at him. “I see…so you were trying to warn me…guess you’re not stupid after all…” Rune-rune whimpered. Toya yelled. “Show yourself!” From the bushes emerged a girl with long purple hair tied back into a ponytail and held in place with a small golden fan ornament. She was pale and wore a no sleeved, short, pink china dress with a gold patterned lines running through it. She was battered and her dress was torn. She limped towards Toya, who stepped out of his stance, and fell in front of him, but was caught by Toya. Rune-rune sniffed her and whimpered. Toya looked at the girl who laid and gasped in his arms. “What happened?!” The girl smiled then talked faintly.

 

“I was attacked…..by a group…..of warriors….” she said then continued, struggling to talk, “They just…..came out of…..nowhere…” Toya nodded and saw that the girl was having a hard time and started to lay her down on his blanket. She stared at him, her eyes distant and face flushed. Toya looked down at her. What group of people could do such a thing?…, he thought to himself, The girl is nowhere near being a fighter and yet they still attack her….why?….” Another rustle came from the bushes. Toya turned away from the girl to face the visitor. The girl spoke one more time before losing consciousness. “They’re…here…..”

 

“Don’t worry….I’ll keep you safe…” Toya said with his back facing her. He looked over his shoulder. “They won’t hurt you….” The girl looked up at him, smiled, then lost consciousness. Gotta hold them off, Toya thought, At least until those two get here…Toya readied himself again for battle. “Show yourself!” This time from the bushes emerged a boy and two women. The boy was taller than the two women, but didn’t look that much older than Toya. The two women were tall too. One pale with short fire orange hair and the other, dark skinned with long, black hair. Both were slim, but seemed much older than the boy in front of them. The boy was skinny as well and was pale with light brown hair. If Toya had to guess his age, he would say about 18. The boy looked at Toya smugly. Toya sneered.

 

“I see you’ve found my practice dummy.” he said coldly and started to chuckle darkly. The two women showed no emotions. Toya snarled. Practice dummy?!…, he thought, Is he that heartless?!…Toya stood his ground and the women behind the boy readied themselves as well.

 

“Who are you and why did you attack this girl?!” he asked. The boy looked at him and snickered. Toya clenched his fists.

 

“My name is not for the likes of you, but because I feel generous, I’ll enlighten you.” the boy said smugly and flipped his short brown hair. “I am Feng. I am the son of the eldest brother, Master Jiang. These two servants behind me are Mei-li and Chen-chi.” Toya raised an eyebrow. Eldest brother…..Master Jiang…,he thought, Is he one of the brothers Siren was talking about?..Feng continued to talk. “That girl refused to be my bride….Rejection is not an option for me. So I decided to have my servants put her in her place. So now, if you would be so kind as to give the girl to me, I will be on my way…” Toya sneered and looked back at the girl, who rested on his blanked.

 

“No chance in hell, Feng!” Toya yelled and growled with his teeth showing. Feng was taken aback and gave a cold look towards Toya.

 

“How dare you address me in such a tone! Prepare to die!” Feng yelled and snapped his fingers. Mei-li and Chen-chi came forward. Feng smirked and Toya stood back. “You two take care of him!” Toya stood his ground. Here it goes…,he thought.

 

“Yes…Master Feng…” the two responded and dashed out at Toya. Thus the fight began…

Siren ran swiftly fearing the worst. Shuran tried her hardest to keep up with. She panted with each step in her run. Shuran started to panic.

 

“Why are we running Siren?!” she yelled over the wind that brushed past them. Shuran tripped and hit the ground hard. Siren stopped and ran back to help Shuran off the ground. She lifted her off the ground. Shuran panted, looked at her, and smiled. “Thanks….”

 

“No problem…” Siren said and started to break off into a run again. Shuran followed closely behind her. Siren tried as best as she could to explain the situation. “I think some more people like yesterday are going to attack us…I sensed three of them…and Toya’s all alone…” Shuran’s eyes widened as the situation sunk in. The two hurried to reach Toya. In a few moments, they finally reached the site, where Toya was. Siren and Shuran stopped and their eyes widened. Tree’s were bashed in and bushes were smashed. In the place of Toya, a young girl stayed and sleeped. The girl looked battered and bruised and was breathing awkwardly. Siren ran to the girl witth Shuran following close behind. They bent down to examine the girl. Shuran spoke.

 

“She’ll be alright….I can treat her for now.” She said and Siren nodded her head and turned in the direction of the loud crashing noises coming from the distance. There was Toya fighting a girl with fire orange hair, a tall girl at that. Siren narrowed her eyes. From the looks of it…., she thought, It looks like he’s having a hard time, that girl must be a good fighter. The girl threw a punch at Toya, who grabbed the punch and flipped her. He was about to deliver the finishing blow, when a dark skinned girl attacked him from behind. There’s the second one, Siren thought and scanned the area, Now where’s the third?… Toya tried to fight of the dark skinned one, but was bombarded with an attack from the orange-haired girl. He fell to the ground and was surrounded by them. A laughter could be heared.

 

“Take that you worm!” called a male voice in the distance. Siren looked around. Give me one more minute Toya…,she thought, Just got to find the third person. After a few moments of canning, she found him, a boy about a 18 with light brown hair. So there he is…,she thought and stood up. Gotta help him, she thought and charged in. In a quick flash she kicked the the dark skinned girl away from Toya. The orange haired girl attacked Siren, but was flipped onto the ground. Siren stood there and held her stance. Toya got up.

 

“I didn’t need your help you know.” he said angrily and Siren snorted.

 

“Says the guy who was on the ground, getting beat up…” she said sarcastically. Toya stood next to her and stood in his fighting stance. One of their hands in front of them and their other hand clenched into fists. Their legs were spread apart. The ultimate fighting stance. The two girls got up and started to get ready to fight once more. The boys voice broke the concentration.

 

“Chen-chi! Mei-li! That’s enough! Let’s get out of here!” said the boy as he disappeared into the bushes. The two girls nodded and followed after him. Siren and Toya raised an eyebrow.

 

“It was over just like that?” he said bewildered. Siren sighed and answered his question.

 

“From the looks of it, he wasn’t a fighter and if he lost his two fighters, he would be vulnerable, so he retreated…” she said matter of factly and walked towards the girl on the ground. “You’ll explain what happened later yes?” Toya nodded and followed. They went to treat the injured girl on the ground.

This girl may know something, Siren thought 

 

I have to treat this girl’s wounds, Shuran thought

 

This brother rivlry thing is getting out of hand, Toya thought
