Chu-Chu, the puppy

Gordon Barnes was an average man that was about to stumble upon something that will change his life forever. That something….will be coming soon and make his life more exciting then it was. He had a good life living with his wife Aisha and daughter Imani. The were the pride and joy of his life. He loved his job, building houses. He loved what he did and he made enough money to support his family. So what made him discover me that day? Well…he was actually looking for fish for an aquarium dream he had, but what he found instead was me. I sat there in my cage and looked at him as he started to make his way past my cage. I whispered to Uncle Pete, well this dog who looks like me only older an scruffier. He’s been with me since birth, so hence Uncle Pete.

"Hey Uncle Pete!" I whispered to him from the front of my cage. His cage was right next to mine, so he should be able to hear me. I waited five more seconds. Still no answer. What is he doing over there? "Hey Uncle Pete!" Still no answer. If he doesn’t answer me fast, I might not get out of this place soon. I laid down, so I could be as close as possible to whisper to my friend Rico, the Chihuahua. Rico was about the same age as me and same size….well he was actually smaller than me or it could be that I couldn’t see him very well. I mean, I only see him when they take us out for grooming and with all this hair in my eyes, that the people here do not seem to want to cut only makes things more difficult. Uncle Pete told me why that was once. He said it was because we were Lhasa Apsos, show dogs with hair flowing to the ground. Oh by the way I’m brown and tannish, and adorable cute. Oh and just because I used the word cute, does not mean I’m a girl. I’m a guy, there’s a difference. I whispered to Rico.

"Hey Rico!" I whispered to him. Rico came to the front of his cage and whispered back. Finally someone wanted to answer me. I’ve only got a few minutes before that man comes and I want to get a free ticket out of here.

"Hey Sang-whan, what’s up?" Rico whispered. Sang-whan was the name my parents gave me, before these people in white coats took me away from them. I originally come from Asia, well a certain place in a Asia, but I can’t remember where exactly.

"Can you help me get adopted today?" I whispered back to him. Today’s the day I was gonna make it out of here. Even if it killed me.

"Sure man! I got your back! We’re amigo’s after all." He lifted his paw to reach the top of my cage. I put out my paw to touch his. He always had my back and put me before himself. He will always be my friend. The man came by my cage and looked at me. I barked playfully. He was going to take me home. The man smiled and went on his merry way. I guess I’m not going to today.

"Hey I’m sorry man….Too sudden for me to do anything." Rico said apologetically. I barked giving him the ok. It’s not his fault and I could never blame him. I looked over at Uncle Pete’s cage and saw a family looking at him. My eyes widen. So they don’t want a young dog like me, but they want an old dog like him? Dog biscuits…..A few days went by and I hadn’t heard from the man until one day.. He comes and brings a women. Luck hasn’t given up on me yet. They take me out and I play around in the room. Gotta make a good impression. Sniff Sniff…What’s that smell? It smells good whatever it is. I followed the smell to the women’s pants leg and bit I. I just wondered if it was edible. The woman looked angry. I night have dug my own grave. The two left. And it has been even more days. Finally they came and got me and took me home and there I met the monster of a sister I was ever going to have. So I guess this is where the journey begins……
