BeachA Poem by ElisaFor VictoriaI sit far away from you on a hill of powdery sand Inhaling slowly, listening to your feet patter on wet ground As I protect my eyes from a desperate sun I can see in the distance your softened silhouette Jealous of your grace, the waves try to consume you But smiling, you float gently On the expanse of rippling glass Neither the song of the deep nor the whisps of cloud above can avert my endless gaze from your shadow embraced by mist With each breath you take, Another night without sleep Flies far from recollection Into the line where sky fades into sea You turn to me, your hair softly sifting, but I dare not corrupt this dream with my presence So here I will stay Blind in the haze of your beauty And blessed with a sight I can dream of for a long, long time.
