Welcome Week

Welcome Week

A Poem by Elisa
"

They said college was going to be the most exciting four years of my life, so why do I feel so lonely?

"
What must I do
to make a clock's hands my own,
to transport myself
far from this gust of endless questions?

To the past, where I've made my bed
ten thousand times,
but will never lay in it again
To the future,
Where my house of now falling mud
Will finish baking in the western sun

Give me a name,
with a touch of reassurance
that will stay with me
past the first rays of dawn

A name that will surround me
with years in its hands,
so with an embrace,
we can brave this storm together.

Author's Note

Elisa
I wrote this poem during the first week of college, when I met so many new people, but knew that I would probably never see them again. But ya'll don't worry about me. I found so many amazing friends, and college is even more fun than I expected it to be. I hope you enjoy this poem, thank you so much for stopping by, and have a great day!

That was a very interesting write. To be able to transport yourself in whatever time you choose, to see the past for comfort and refuge or to go to the future to see if you've succeeded, if you've grown. And what has changed, how you evolved. Again to seek comfort, to know that even though in the present moment it's a little scary and lonely, that it won't be so bad later on.

I am glad you are enjoying college! It is an awesome experience and hope the friends you meet stay by your side for years!

College's always full of fun especially the moments when students pull the legs of teachers & have some banters with 'em (but it depends what kinda teacher you are making fun with.. cause, some seemed like an old beat of heart who loves kicking students outta class). It's fun to make new-friends as well. I believe, old ones never stay with you for long except the fast ones so, making new friends & walking along with 'em is kinda great feeling. You've pondered your emotions inside such deepen words very well. Appreciate the whole poetry. I'm sure, this poetry's very close to your bare-naked heart, after all, it must be, it does belong to your memories - happiest memories of past. Keep writing!

Thank you! I couldn't agree with you more!
I remember the first few weeks of college and how out of place I felt. But things change. I'm glad you made some wonderful friends. This is only the beginning Elisa. Enjoy every moment.
