There Was a Fair Queen...A Poem by The Phantom King AlchemistI took my deck of cards out one day and began to flip them out onto my desk. And low and behold a little poem started to form in my brain. (It all started with a queen card.)There was a fair Queen, She had a fair son. And with him came four horses, and nine nuns.
Three drunken soldiers sat in a tavern one night, And spoke of a horse boy, with feverish delight. Five years he had served the fair prince faithfully; Two noble stallions he cared for diligently.
The old King had noticed, The two stallions had grown. And bred eight foals; From three mares alone.
Nine months later, Four men arrived. Bringing six horses for the fair Queen to ride.
Six weeks had passed, And to the prince had been made known That the six horses were worth only seven shillings alone.
Ten days had gone by, And the men had been found. The fine they were given was almost eight pounds, But the Queen threw them in the dungeon underground.
The New Year passed, and the old king had died. Seven weeks of mourning and the prince found a bride. He was made King over all nine lands, And the six old lords crumbled in his hands.
Seven years came to pass, And the horse boy was named: The eighth horse master of Germaine. © 2010 The Phantom King AlchemistAuthor's Note
