Tears of Innocence

Tears of Innocence

A Poem by Tomislav Petricevic
"

A muslim boy watches Crusaders kill people in Jesus' name - a man he thought was good and kind.

"

He was standing near the city gates,

Looking at the men with crosses,

Christ's name they kept shouting,

While women cried for their losses.

Jesus sounded kind to the boy,

Yet in his name families died,

Just because of different beliefs,

Just because of broken pride.

What kind of god would approve of that,

What kind of people would heed his words?

Tears were gathering upon the boy's eyes,

As he would no longer hear the singing of birds.

A man with a sword red of blood

Approached the boy and quickly sliced,

His eyes slowly closed with a final thought-

They were no longer the men of Christ.

This really made me cry, honestly.

I am a Christian and I honestly can't fathom how on earth other "Christians" can do this. I can't understand a lot about other people who claim to share my religion. I can't understand a whole lot about people in general.

This poem beautifully illustrates the loss of life, innocence, and a loss of good things, generally speaking.

Gosh, your poems are brilliant! I'm jealous right now. :)

It hard to give an honest review, knowing the picture to the left will be displayed.

But anyhow, I loved this poem.

All my life, I had been agnostic, but when I decided to reach out to a higher justice in my time of grief, I began to believe in god and become Christian. I would pray, and pray, and pray. I asked if he would send me a sign. And he did, and I eventually stopped praying.

All of a sudden, all my problems were solved, and last night I realized it was his doing.

Since we were all giving a bit of our relgious backgrounds.. yeah.

Dark as always, made you cry. Volim tvoju "description".. Ovo me podsjeća na pjesmu od Nelly Furtado "Good Things Come To An End", veoma tužna pjesma. Radi se opet o religiji kad spominješ "beliefs", i to preziranje Crusadera koji ubijaju druge ljude samo zbog vjere, a koji su nevini, i baš zato volim taj asking rhythm:
"What kind of god would approve of that,
What kind of people would heed his words?"
Najtužniji mi je bio taj strong punch in the end, i dobro si to naglasio:
"They were no longer the men of Christ."
Keep it up buddy! :D

Very very good. Men like this...disgust me. This poem really expresses what this like through a child's eyes, believing what they hear, but seeing the honest men murderer innocents. Excellent.
