Downpour

Downpour

A Poem by Tomislav Petricevic

The night fell again

once again

and in it I

I wasn't like I had been

Found us on concrete

creeping through dark

motionless streets

in slumbering town

Hushes while searching

a way to the light

one candle still burning

in troublesome house

Upon arrival

an infinite warmth

stargazers forever

a memory to mourn

Come morrow I sailed

through downpour this time

the path was different

and compass I lost

Others had helped

futile it was

for I have found it

when hope was lost

In house again

treasured embrace

raincatchers forever

a memory I mourn

It rained again

once again

and in the rain I knew

the same I'd never have been

This is beautiful. I love the wording, the rhythm, the cadence. This is incredibly well done! I really like the lines, "an infinite warmth/stargazers forever/a memory to mourn". Absolutely stunning use of language.

It's been a long, long time since I've read any of your writing, but I remember the doubtless talent exhibited in each piece before. This is indication that the talent is very much still there, and you consistently grow as a writer, poet, and human being.

Excellent piece!
