What exactly is this about? I think I get the last two stanzas though; they're very sad.
I take them to be talking about how people try to get to a certain point in life and then when they get there all they can think about is their memories they couldn't enjoy at the time because they were too distracted.. They're disappointed because they wasted their entire lives getting to where they thought they wanted to be. Now they would give up anything to have another chance at the life they missed - but all they can do is "look behind with memories in eyes but silence on lips."

I like your interpretation a lot. It fits the poem perfectly & I think it's a great "angle" from whi.. read moreI like your interpretation a lot. It fits the poem perfectly & I think it's a great "angle" from which you can observe the whole thing.
What I had in mind while writing it was this:
Sometimes in life you have to let go of certain people, no matter how much you love them and/or care about them, because, despite your love, you might be limiting yourself while clinging onto them. We are creatures of habits and it really can be hard to let go of something so familiar, even when we realize it might not be so good for us. If you decide to finally let go, you need to focus on what you want to achieve now that you're "free". It really wouldn't make sense to go through something like that only to completely stray from your desired path. And when you finally reach your goal, allow yourself to peacefully look back into the past and remember the things you sacrificed, but don't "say" anything, or in other words, don't think something like: "If I did that differently, I might have still been able to do this and that successfully..." etc.
