~Shallow Grave~

~Shallow Grave~

A Poem by Petrichor
"

~Shallow Grave~ is about death and the question of rebirth.

"

~Shallow Grave~ by Ryan Miller (me)

His breaths are shallow, same as his grave

So alone in the shadows, no time to save

Lungs of compassion, cough their dust

Cool gears of passion, halted by rust

Which way is up, lost in the downs

Longs for the cup, sorrow drowns

Lips bleed dry, and tongue hides

A tearless cry; still heart abides

Crumbling, the quiet screams

Numb, the dimness gleams

Drift, wrapped in doom

Gift, reborn to womb

I love how reading this poem makes the concept of death and birth come alive together in my mind in a an easy affability as if they were naturally related.

"Gift, reborn to womb". Love this verse. Your writing is dryly concise yet morbidly appealing. I liked it.
