Fork

Fork

A Poem by Pete Langley

Fork

A kingdom rested here,

with tenants and landlords,

travellers and squires

knowing their place

in the scheme of things,

with only the ravaging

of millipedes and moles

to contend the continuum

and taprooted dandelions

everyone could rely upon

to maintain the status quo,

but now the world

is turning upside down

with this precious land

torn asunder by metal spikes

to a fine tilth.

Thank you for expressing this in the most original way I've seen. Many write about this topsy-turvy ride, but few nail it like this. The way you describe the highly-repressive alternative, it almost makes me want to try to better accept the chaos of our times! In short, this seems like a roundabout way of saying Democracy is messy! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
