Fields Of War

Fields Of War

A Poem by P.J. Lowry

Dust is all that remains

only pain paints the soil.

There’s no alibi for lawmakers

through their words came death.

Signed with pencils mightier than swords

over property sprayed murder.

Organizing armies on borrowed time

towards the fields of war.

nice little poem about war :)
if i may suggest a few things- Try a verb in the second line that adds to the meaning, instead of 'paint'
Maybe not with this poem, but with others try a steady meter to give a poem's impact more oomph (if you meant on purpose to have it free verse I apologize)
Only the last couplet has two lines that can be connected as is to form a sentence; maybe change that.
Other than that, good job.
