Mother's Sonnet

Mother's Sonnet

A Poem by P.J. Lowry

Life changes when someone you love goes
the days are cold while you're trying to process
feeling an aching pain, right down to your toes
and as I cry, I hope you won't think of me less.

I confess that not every moment was good
as we had many conflicts and struggles to bear
while there are words I'd take back if I could
we still had plenty of good memories to share.

On days like today, I look back and try to reflect
on the time that has passed, and what could be
we've all made mistakes, no one here is perfect
so it's time to finally let go, set our feelings free.

While our time was shorter then what I'd prefer
she's never really gone, as long as we remember.
