Go Away World

Go Away World

A Poem by P.J. Lowry

Go away world, I've had enough

of all the fighting and the atrocities

that continues to go on outside my door.

Just leave me alone and let me rest

for I no longer have the strength nor the energy

to face this wicked world today.

There's too much death and too much violence

the news gets more depressing with each passing day

while our leaders seem so eager to declare a war

on an ememy that can hardly be seen or found.

That makes this planet less enjoyable to live on

as we can't trust the politicians, not one

too eager when fighting this outrageious war on terrorism

not for our freedom, but for their own agendas.

So here I lay, tucked away in my cocoon

unwilling to wake up and face the sun

trying to sheild myself away from the pain and the prejudices

against the obvious differences that seem to always exist

between various countries, cultures and religions

and until every one of these differences can be bridged

the violence will go on, as will the wars.

So go away world, I've had enough

of all the fighting and the atrocities

that continues to go on outside my door.

Just leave me alone and let me rest

for I no longer have the strength nor the energy

to face this wicked world today.

I loved it P.J. and it rings so true if only our politicians would wake up and smell the coffee.. The world might once again be a place worth living in.

Oh man, this here is sure enough quality poem, if ever I'd seen one. The pain the narrator feels is quite obvious from the very start, even though he's sort of adopted a defeatist, and yet, angry tone to his voice, complainint about the evident state of the world. I can sure enough feel his pain.
