Silent voices

Silent voices

A Poem by The_Ancient_Rock
"

Writers need readers as much as readers need writers.

"
Silent voices,
that echo through time,
without noises,
words perceived by the mind.
A simple harmony,
of word and text,
flow like a melody,
each letter after the next.
We can listen to you.
We can feel you.
Almost touch you...
We can know you,
by that silent voice,
by your choice.
By the ink that marks,
mindful sparks.
Like blood it flows,
and it never goes.
What's music with no listeners?
What's poetry with no readers?
It is for you that I do it.
For all of you...
My words are nothing without you,
they cease to exist.
Beyond any meaning,
losing understanding.
Like a book never read,
be it happy or sad,
or passionate and mad.
We are a world,
creating other worlds.
A mind reaching another mind.
And has the History has told,
not so easy erased by time.
Let your silent voices speak loud,
and for thy work be proud.
Creations should be shared,
for all the ones who cared.

I love this and not just the words but the attitude and optimism they reflect. I write for myself and my kids mostly, outside of songwriting. But my poetry will be forgotten like my very existence in time. I often feel like the words of Shelley, "Nothing beside remains round the decay of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare, the lone and level sands stretch far away.” John Donne was mostly forgotten until championed by no less than Thomas Eliot. Maybe some future poet may find my scribblings and pull my memory from obscurity as well. But I have my doubts. I enjoyed the read. F.

This poem speaks to the universal experience of human connection and the power of language to transcend barriers...

It is a reflection on the shared experience of writing and reading, and the impact that words can have on both the writer and the reader.

Thank you for sharing such a thought provoking poem.

For some reason this reminds me of the opening scene of the video game Chrono Cross lol. YouTube it if you don't know it.

in some ways I think this is what we are about ...
We can listen to you.
We can feel you.
Almost touch you...
We can know you, !!! ( emphasis mine )
yeah pretty much we seek to be known. - If a poet speaks in the forest and no one hears does he make a noise - or something like that. I feel I do write to help me understand myself and also the enjoyment of the work, but if no one reads I can probably just keep my thoughts to myself.
