The unagreeable lovers

The unagreeable lovers

A Stage Play by The_Ancient_Rock
"

A comedy of sorts.

"
My love, my life,
it is the golden sun I say,
as we bask in its ray,
of this glorious sunny day,
'tis the sun, I say.

Nay, my love, my life,
it is the silver moon I say,
with night flowers in bloom,
the night gloom,
'tis the moon, I say.

My love, my life,
it is day I say,
enjoy it we may,
too soon to lay,
'tis the day, I say.

Nay, my love, my life,
it is night I say,
inside the inn there is a fight,
and on is the street lamp light,
'tis the night, I say.

My love, my life,
it is the West I say,
It is the best and the way,
the astonishing sunset,
'tis the West, I say.

Nay, my love, my life,
it is the East I say,
sunrises and birds feast,
awakening for both Man and beast,
'tis the East, I say.

My love, my life,
it is the North I say,
moving forth is the way,
up the hill there is a court,
'tis the North, I say.

Nay, my love, my life,
it is the South I say,
where we must go about,
wipe that smirk out of your mouth,
'tis the South, I say.

My love, my life,
it is Spring I say,
we can hear the chant of the jay,
and flowers enchant the day,
'tis Spring, I say.

Nay, my love, my life,
it is Autumn I say,
fallen dry leaves at the bottom,
better to wear wool or cotton,
'tis Autumn, I say.

My love, my life,
it is the Summer I say,
the heat is never a goner,
light fills the window in that corner,
'tis the Summer, I say.

Nay, my love, my life,
it is the Winter I say,
snow is a daily painter,
lady Winter is coming, wait for her,
'tis the Winter, I say.

My love, my life,
it is left I say,
are you daf?
Let us prepare for a theft,
'tis left, I say.

Nay, my love, my life,
it is right I say,
patrols are guarding the night,
many ready for a fight,
'tis right, I say.

My love, my life,
it is up I say,
there I saw a golden cup,
and the window is not shut,
'tis up, I say.

Nay, my love, my life,
it is down I say,
I saw a beautiful silk gown,
now, don't give me that frown,
'tis down, I say.

My love, my life,
it is fast I say,
may we remember the past,
and all things made not to last,
'tis fast, I say.

Nay, my love, my life,
it is slow I say,
memories take time to go,
children and old weep so,
'tis slow, I say.

My love, my life,
it is the entrance I say,
let us not leave it to chance,
maybe there we can boost our finance,
'tis the entrance, I say.

Nay, my love, my life,
it is the exit I say,
get up, let us not sit,
maybe there is a key to fit,
'tis the exit, I say.

My love, my life,
it is the start I say,
come, let us not be part,
we can follow that cart,
'tis the start, I say.

Nay, my love, my life,
it is the end I say,
stop, let us not pretend,
let our limbs rest and mend,
I say, 'tis the end.

I know you worked really hard on this and it shows, it's truly an enjoyable read. I'm glad that it could more than live up to the expectations from our brief discussions of what it would/could be. I do agree with the majority of readers that it can be read more seriously, but I do see the silly side of it too. It easily can be read as kind of a satire on the conversation of two people in love. Like the 'you hang up first', 'no you hang up first' but in a much more poetic and insightful way.

silly? yes I can see that in the we agree to disagree - but also much here that is a rhythm of friendship and or love - obvious these two enjoy the back and forth banter and both make good argument as to why they are correct in their choice. Definitely not The Honeymooners or even Lucy and Ricky - Maybe a bit more Gabel and Lombard - All in all and enjoyable read -carl

Wow! A very entertaining write finely penned. Two people not in agreement about anything. If one says the sky is blue, the other says it is black. Reading it for the third time, alarm bells ring in my mind for the couple who can't agree on anything. The constant battle made me worry about what kind of future was in store for them when the novelty of their loving relationship took a nose-dive! A very humorous, amusing write finely penned. I feel you enjoyed writing it and I enjoyed reading it very much! Thank you for sharing it, dear A.R.

An epic tale here of lovers who don’t agree on anything. The poem comes across as entertaining and light hearted and yet there are danger signs here for those who have no common ground at all. It was a fun read and I enjoyed it.

I dunno, seems pretty... meaningful. I really like this one. It's still early here, so I'm gonna revisit this one once I've woken up a bit. Nicely done
