Blue Sky Hawk

Blue Sky Hawk

A Poem by Tinker Pete
"

I was driving to Albuquerque on a clear winter day. Hawks patrolled the Rio Grande Valley, diving on their prey. As I passed by Kirtland AFB, a flight of F15s passed over me. The comparison followed:

"

Blue sky hawk soars high.
Look at it fly.
So beautiful and free.
Sharp eyes and talons like razors.
Fast and deadly.

I hear its cry,
“Die… die… die!”
Far below on the grange,
Field mice freeze when they hear.
Lookup, shiver and cringe.
They hate what they fear;
Blue skies and death from above.
