Every firecracker makes him jump.

It reminds him of the past

The friends he lost

He runs for cover as if he was being shot at

Everyone looks at him, as if he’s crazy

But he isn’t

His past haunts him

The good men and women he lost

The scars that will always remind him

He try’s to forget

He wants to forget

His child wants to know

He’s child begs him to tell him

 

The firecrackers sound like guns going off

 

It sounds as if he’s being shot at

He try’s to be brave

But his wife knows he can’t take it anymore

He misses his buds back over seas.

This story reminds me of my aunt's ex boyfriend who fought in vietnam..on a fourth of july fireworks were going off and he started having flashbacks and ran for cover crying...This was a very good piece...I encourage you to keep on writing...=)
