Shallow

Shallow

A Poem by Persephone Poe

A prince with eyes of sapphire
Lips of glistening petals
A gentleman
A genius
Whose spirit never settles
Entertaining and kind
Absolutely sends ruptures through the spine
If love is not ideal
Is it even real?
If love is not ideal
Is it worth it at all?
Love should not be
Born in fear
Of the loneliness of yesteryear
Love should not be
Solely respite
But everything worthy of
Your soul's investment
I want him to be beautiful
Something no one else has seen
I want him to be smart
To keep me wise and keen
I want him to be stimulating
And altogether titillating
I want him to understand me more
Than anyone ever before
How many men aspire to be
The man of a woman's dreams?
When many men want it seems
The woman of their dreams.
