BlindersA Poem by CMore writing at: By Celeste CzarneckiBlinders, blinders, we don’t have a problem Believing all their lies and covering our eyes. It’s such a tragedy, living in this this fad we need, can’t escape it. Candy in our eyes, so now we don’t care who cries. She says, “Don’t you want to be like me? Don’t you want to feel the spotlight’s heat?” Just try it, just try it We’re all living this same way Obsessed with fame and intellectual decay. Don’t buy it, don’t buy it.
The new youth, the old, they all wear blinders We’re fixated on our wealth, ignor’nt of our health And the media is God, we pray with our violence We’ve covered up our eyes, no more minding It’s blinding, it’s blinding.
Blinders, liars, hiding all our problems Only seventeen, and she’s media queen We’re finding we don’t need our own shining, just the screen Reality TV, Ignorance’s seed.
They say, “you can’t live without us You can’t survive without getting crushed.” Don’t try it, don’t try it. They say, “let us lead the way Live the way you want, as long as you can pay.” You’ll like it, you’ll like it.
The stars, tattooed scars, they give us blinders Pop black sugar symphonies, so sickly sweet Mouths like tulips, they dance like galaxies Forcing camera tears, pretending they can’t hear Fire crackling, fire crackling.
Now there’s no more hope, nothing left to know The magazines ate our feelings, told us where to go Scared to death of promised changes Married just for shots, looks, the camera’s little favorites Kill the writers now, kill the thinkers now Pretend you can’t hear, pretend you don’t care Just let them win again.
And we all wear blinders. © 2015 CAuthor's Note
