Through The Seasons

Through The Seasons

A Poem by Perfusion
"

Wrote this in a class of mine for an assignment.

"

The sun beams through the trees, the start of your chapter

From crawling on the foliage to climbing on the branches

Your prying eyes shining through the rainy weather

Curious about what’s out there to discover

Your teen years arrived as life started going by faster

Going to beach parties and romantic school dances

Oh how you wished it could last forever

That sunset picnic where you first met your lover

You finally got that master’s that you were after

Leaves falling next to those wine-filled glasses

Finally together, you believed it couldn’t get better

Then you fell cold with the night as you heard their mutters

Daily blessings from the pastor

As your cane sinks into the pale white grasses

Bed covered with letters, you wished not to forget her

The next visit you were six feet under
