Truly amazed by the great

new hierarchy 

time over time

building the bog 

   be it Congress, sly ole Silicon 

atomic 14

or banks to big to jail

lying their way into a seat  

truly amazed how they've whittled it down 

to a handful of dust

 an ocean of fear, 

 fist pumping across their aisle

people you'd never want barking in your own home 

yet there they sit

and all they really ask  

is everything 

anything

you've worked your entire life over to build 

that's all they really want

everything you'll ever need  

and all you can afford 

with interest

but by all means

let's build that bridge to Mars

'The great new hierarchy,' indeed. But it's the same greedy and self serving suits, just different faces really and the rise of the vacant and vacuous, particularly on social media sites, (which I abhor,) continues apace.

Eh~ I’m still sticking to the thought of Ugh… Poetry in politics, or rather politics and poetry… I don’t know, I think you have to use a story about madmen, searching for their lost sanity at the edge of an ocean that never existed or children with handguns roaming the halls… Semi automatic common day casualties. But I had to write something you know? I’ll give it another try soon enough! Thanks Ken!!

This was a great read. We are at the mercy of an elite oligarchy intent on dividing and conquering us all. It's nothing new. It's something very old and hidden from the rest of us. We get hints and conspiracy theories thrown at us but that's about it from secret organizations and the New World Order to the Da Vinci Code. We can't beat them at their game because we aren't privy to their game, let alone, allowed to play.

Yes, but we are poets and hold the viscous ways around, and it isn't by the writing of politics but rather by writing of beauty, truth, unveiling consciousness as we dip our feathers into the well and make the tides turn line by line. Or so I was led to believe..lol. Thank you FGFranklin.

Voltaire, Rousseau and John Donne were all exceptional poets; all highly involved in political affairs as represented in their writings as well as Wordsworth, Shelley, Ambrose Bierce, Rudyard Kipling, Yeats, E.E. Cummings and W.H. Auden to name but a few. And one must confess that Walt Whitman waxed very political in his works as well. No subject is taboo to the poet and I think, at some point, most of them have been written about as well.

Read them all and I'd say "If" and "Song of Myself", and "The Flea"..Wow, as for Mr. Donne we could go hours and hours but as for the abstract of Mr. Cummings, well never enough space on that page for the man and his Picasso-esk ways. Yes..all these friends of mine but they all came through the heart in order to incite the best of the spirit and the soul. Beautiful words and memories...thank you for that. I will be by soon but family issues have me limited in time today. Very soon sir and thank you for the fond memories of such wonderful poets. I might have to get lost in Donne's wonderful, wonderful love poems for a while. Been too long. A wonderful response though and once again...thank you for these memories!

Here goes, second time around. Now how good is my memory? Not nearly as sharp as it once was :) When I read your lines Joe, I felt the down side of capitalism and the greed. The terrible greed by big business, banks and yes politicians too. All seem far too keen on lining their own pockets at the expense of everyone else. The rich get richer and the poor seem to get poorer. What happens on your side of the pond is echoed here. I have never felt so disillusioned with politicians. You vote them in on a mandate and then they do the opposite. There is only a cigarette paper of difference now between our two main parties. They are frigging useless. The Conservatives are for low taxation. We now have the highest taxation ever, huge energy bills, high inflation, low wages, huge waiting lists for the NHs and half the country waiting for a dental appt, illegal immigration out of control and our 4 star hoteks filled to accommodate them. I could go on but don’t wanna bore you:) What’s that about Mars ?

I worked all my life and the government are out to screw as much out of you as possible. Till the pips squeak:))

..lol.." Politics and Poetry"..Ugh! Never been a fan or liked the taste of it as it seems as odd a mixture as a good red wine with a finely cooked diaper in a butter sauce but things are getting pretty strange around these parts. As far as "am I feeling better?" Not till I solve some riddles and write out a line or two beyond politics...something sacred and alarming, true enough to make even the worst of lobbyists sit up and wonder about their life and morals values Now as for Mars...well I think about Elon Musk and his keen ability for using the People's money in order to build these things that do not work or rather his promises save the world with electric cars that cost almost a near one hundred thousand dollars or a free internet for the world that will not cost a dime but at only a cost of two hundred dollars a month (What??) when we just gave him nearly a billion plus in American dollars and yet then I head for the mountains (where I probably should stay) and everyone is still paying for their low-level satellites and waiting and "Paying" for their "free" internet to start working some three or so years later. So Mars? Colonies on the Moon when we have homeless veterans right here on this already rough enough rock? I just question the actual sources and real motives when looking beyond and I look toward the future knowing we'll need to stop relying on anyone other than ourselves. He did make a good "flame thrower" though, one year or decade ago, so "better?"..lol.
I do have my wolves and wildcats and bears and turkeys and...so there is that. Thank you twice and more for your patience Chris~
