If You Should AskA Poem by Perdition
It will not matter
the silence smiles within my steps like a child in a mindless coat spinning in the dark hums of a sudden life Telling me that this is only another foolish page a poverty of country without name the empty palm of lovers full of every sum and secret one heart can retain It will not matter a thousand times your voice echoes like the rose of a seaweed or the forgotten apples on the cusp of winter I walk my shadow towards it rise the sun congratulatory in its spindled cage asking me questions I cannot answer though I understand all the same as if it has to ask It will not matter though we think it might how often the sea melts against its anguish No, it will not suffer for a name we know too well from where it drowns A smile and the explosion collapses tearing the feral sky at midnight the crunch of the gravel and lost leaves keeps me bleeding towards the wild honey of springlight promising me nothing at all
