Just then

Just then

A Poem by Perdition

Just then,
when you spoke
and words of kindness appeared

A light seemed to fall out from nowhere

Just then,
when fear crumbled back into its cage
and proceeded on into hell

I could feel a rush of life
returning

The air swept cool
moist and delicious

Just then,
briefly, though it seemed

I would have sworn
humanity
had a chance

I truly enjoyed the construct of time you have employed here. Just then, which suggests an open timeline of the near-to-distant past, which leads the reader to consider different thought waves, whether this is a poem of present awareness, regret, or quite possibly indifference to a time best left buried.
Quite enjoyed my visit perdition

Its like the sudden yet gone-too-soon flashes of feeling that renders you speechless and brings back the remnants of a happier time. Like a cold chill that creeps up your arm when you hear the verse that whispers to you.

I like this one a lot, dear friend. Thank you.

You’re welcome.
First read of yours and I do like the thoughts in your words..
Your thoughts moved through the lines very easily so it made it a pleasure to read.
And, the use of metaphors, which I always love, made your words spring to life...and made me think which is always good.
