The Sleep of Water

The Sleep of Water

A Poem by Perdition
"

What?

"

Inside your hands

I know too well

I am the searcher

Drawing back

then slowing in

if only to fade back out again

I come to life within our shattered minds

whisked by a slyful horizon

I tell myself  I'm new to this

then speak where only water will hear

though I do suspect the sun as my lustful spy

Am I rhetoric?

or deeper in smiles of sweeter madness

Last words we'll never know

I leave you everything and nothing at all

A promise of wings

the brooding laughter

night, soft as a dancer's prophecy

the groan of stone on water

After days, comes trust then hunger

and soon, the sleep of water returns

holds so still you swear its death

Our story is ever ending

We are made for eyes and nights

and thin drapes

unlace
