Because of You

I find an uncommon mystery, 

a gaze behind her eyes

silent as the morning and tiny fawns at leap

crossing the summer's hungry wet field

In this world the young hide too deep for heaven

too dark in the fire's light for the flames to mend  

The first moment into a kiss is attached to a lifetime 

Awakening in sleepy-eyed petals that can consume the mind, 

I cannot be right to feel this way

I cannot be right to feel at all

whispering out the beauty from just her name

in the summer we are mindful from a distance

clouds dividing our only hope

 and so the gift is dawn, though

we are seeping through the wood  

melting through the sound we utter whenever we are not 

yet apart is a courage in living

it is the shelter we build when God is away

and the winter's wind becomes the hammer

the sound of love dying is a fawn hard at breath at the end of the year and God watching down from my shoulders 

I wish she could understand what I see before the year is over.

Your opening lines brought such a needed smile and evoking of appreciation for a poem I wrote in an effort that was lost to the person I wrote it for years ago, but isn’t that just always the way. Hahaha. What a lovely review and even though the decision to deconstruct and invoke an analysis and interpretation was greatly appreciated, I found your opening words the loveliest of all. I probably did but then some altered moment of verse drew me out into a thing that can’t be won but only followed desperately and to no end. Poetry makes fools and kings of lovers every second of the day but you never know when a silent timeless chance might come around again. Enough to know the feeling though right? Thanks!

When the end comes we all know there is only one true love in my life and that is poetry..however...there are those that may come along to play a chord or two of course.
