Faces In The Well

Faces In The Well

A Poem by Perdition

Here, I have walled myself

a simple life, marked and flogged

a fool

All the scars bearing gently,

gentle as the carvings I have flinched,

as gentle wears a simpler face than fear

as one who dared to wear these faces left to follow

it is senseless not to reach to my common grave again

reflections being all that has placed on the days timeless offering

so many faces there are still to wear

with gifts betrayed as life has done before

and thus I must proclaim:

my hands turned bone will raise the sun from under heaven's grave; my heart taken for its will, will crawl to tear the names they have torn with fate before and wanting much from truth,  the truth ignored

My flesh no longer offerings for the breeze

as willingly I gift my wings for higher nests that follow

for simple  lives inspired and flogged from kindness

tried and marked as a poor man's fool

and proud to be one life in many

that died to wear it

On its face, I don't understand your message in this poem, but your words conjured up a parallel narrative in my mind as I was reading, as if your words describe the place where I've come to in my life, after hardships & lessons, not seeing this journey as a piling on of misery (as some do), but rather as a more & more organic exercise of one's own truth, as life goes on (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Your poems have an inevitable feel to it... As if death is looming around... As if life and death is inevitable and so are the truths and other experiences in life. When I read your poems I get an actual "perdition", inevitable sense, which reminds me its the ultimate truth or something like that...

Keep writing.. We get to experience a piece of the writer from the writes.. As it always does.

So many faces there left to wear with gifts betrayed as life has done before,,,,makes me feel like there is a deep hurt within, the many faces we have to wear, but which is actually our true face.... I know this feeling of having to hide the pain and out on a mask...you did a great job here.

Oh how nice! Being a poor man isn't to be ashamed of! As you put here you died proud to be one! The thing is not whether about how much money we have; but how much we got out of life! Don't live for the money, live for each day. Enjoy each moment! Nicely written perdition!

didn't I tell You? write a book already lol, honestly we can speak for hours about this one.

each one of us on this earth wonder about their existences, the purpose of their lives, some seek to be noticed, some seek to be something big, but those faces "whom" are playing their roles silently and patiently behind the scenes, simple to some, but they are humble yet full with pride, seeking no fame, and only gifting the world the true essence of humanity, those unknown and unnoticed faces who didn't ignore the truth, but only trying to convey it to the others in their own ways, those are the ones who have the most beautiful of Souls.

This poem is a powerful, graphic, affirmation of the struggle to live- to draw breath- each day. It grips and shatters and lifts us in living words that flow like an organic, torrential storm from the poet’s deepest soul. Vivid imagery bleeds and holds us captor in soaring metaphors of life, death and resurrection. This is as real and true as it gets. Magnificent write.
