Think Tall

Think Tall

A Poem by Perdition

when you think that you are done

think deeply

think with the earth melting in your teeth

think with the iron sky grinding in your ribs

laboring with the fostered city from your past

think tall

think mountainous

be that seed outnumbered

deep beneath the stone

wash away your thimble of memory

where you hold an ocean in grain

when you think that you are done

walk the second more

and with everything you have

fall in that absence with your knees

see what strains to stand

see what curses at the ground

pushing and pounding to get back up

wait out eternity if you must

be a sleeper in the street

but wait and see what will rise,

when there is nothing but you and death between

think deeply as life is watching too

when you think that you cannot.

Very deep and meaningful poem! It had a good flow too and I did have to look up the meaning of some words and re reading it again.

I really enjoyed your word choices it is even better the second reading.
deep and sound wisdom in this says i ... so can relate to the "i can't take it any more" false belief .. ;) we can "take it" ... "life" (in this poem) is for me my Lord Jesus Christ and when i first began to ry to heed that still small voice ..i learned the hard way that in trials ... when we say "no more" ... God seems to say "Ok...i will lift the burden .. you were right at the door .. hand on the door knob .. and just at the doors opening... now, E., we must begin again" ;)))))))))))
lots that i like about your poem .. the use of contrasting images and lines ..i really like the call for a positive attitude in V1 ... and the encouragement to persevere in V2 ... with a strong closing the reinforces the wisdom ... i like the visual of the form you chose as well ... almost like two chapters ..solid blocks and separation tho the actual turn i see is subtle .. nice nice nice job says i!

well....we do walk our walks eh!? .....great poem sir! and Happy Thanksgiving to you as well :)
I strangely found my self pressing my teeth together when I read (think with the earth melting in your teeth).

many of the people who say they want to end their lives, if You put them under death or told them to go ahead and end it, You will see them stopping. if You look into Your past You will see how many times You said You "can't", and somehow You could, You will get surprised of how You did survive. the source of strength is always there as long as there is a breath, this is the mystery.

Perserverence!!! A great moral to go on! This was upbeat to read and reminded a hype up speech to psyche you in the game. It's like youre telling them to get their head and the game and fight it through. I like the flow of this and how you carefully transition through the lines. The setup is neat and I find no fault! Nice job!

Well, how fitting is this for my Monday morning soul searching of endurance. A weeping without sorrow. A sweeping tissue of strength! How well you know the need. Im strapping in..tomorrow begins the prep for scope and then colonoscopy, Thanksgiving baking, love, laughter, floured hair, dirty apron, but above all blessing. I am so Thankful for your being! Happy Thanksgiving!
